The Euclid Mathematics Contest is an opportunity for students to have fun and to develop their mathematical problem solving ability.

Audience

Students in their final year of secondary school or CÉGEP students and motivated students in lower grades.

Format

  • 10 questions; some answer only and some full solution
  • marks for full solution questions assigned for form and style of presentation
  • 2.5 hours
  • 100 total marks
  • some calculators permitted

The contest is written by individuals in schools. More information for the supervising teachers is available.

Mathematical Content

Most of the problems are based on curricula up to and including the final year of secondary school. Some content might require students to extend their knowledge and the best way to familiarize oneself with commonly appearing topics is to practice using past contests.

Schools can register for contests online by the deadline. View fees.

Schools that have not registered for previous contests are encouraged to participate, and can start by filling out a New School Application form.

Contest Preparation

The Grade 12 open coursewareMathematics Resource Manual and Euclid eWorkshop can help you brush up on the material and provide many problems with solutions. Past contests give you a sense of the style of the questions and include problems ranging from easy to very challenging.

Results and Recognition

The results booklet and averages and cutoffs are online.
Teachers can access their students’ results and generate certificates.
